Cardano and Litecoin decline by more than 3% as Bitcoin holds above $30,200

On Monday, the cryptocurrency markets were primarily trading in the negative. Ethereum (ETH) went below the $1,900 mark while Bitcoin (BTC) dropped 2% to $30,221 in price. BTC volume was at $13.19 billion, up 5.23% over the previous day.

On Friday, the price of bitcoin surpassed US$31,000 for the first time in a year. However, it has since entered a consolidation phase and, during the past 24 hours, has stabilised near the US$30,000 mark.

Bitcoin has attracted favourable investor sentiment thanks to a remarkable increase of over 14% over the last seven days. Maintaining its position above the vital US$30,000 barrier, which has the ability to spark additional upward momentum, is Bitcoin's biggest issue. The current support level for BTC is US$29,500.

Top cryptocurrency tokens were trading in the red as well. Cardano, Litecoin, and Polygon all fell by more over 3%. The market capitalization of all cryptocurrencies was trading lower, down 2% over the previous 24 hours, at roughly $1.18 trillion.

The largest cryptocurrency in the world by market cap, Bitcoin, was valued at over $586 billion. According to CoinMarketCap, the market share of Bitcoin is currently 49.90%, a decline of 0.13% from the previous day.

Market players are intently monitoring the important psychological support level of $30,000 as Bitcoin hovers around $30,184. Indicating a negative trend, a break below this level would bring Bitcoin below the $28,250 level. On the other hand, a break over the $31,250 resistance level would open the door to higher price regions for Bitcoin, like $32,000 or even $34,150.
